The Tarnowskie Góry Museum is housed in the historic Sedlaczek House, located on the corner of Town Square and Gliwicka Street. Exhibitions are displayed on the building’s first floor. Access to the museum is via a staircase at the end of the hallway, near the entrance to the restaurant.
Several other historic landmarks are located near the Museum, including the Town Hall and the Evangelical Church. The Municipal Park is just a short walk away (approx. 500 metres), while the Historic Silver Mine is slightly farther (approx. 2.6 kilometres). Both the park and the mine are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
By car
Tarnowskie Góry is situated in the northern part of the Upper Silesian and Dąbrowa Basin Metropolitan Area. It is well-connected via National Roads 11 and 78, which link just outside the town to the A1 motorway at the ‘Bytom’ and ‘Zabrze Północ’ interchanges. The town centre is characterized by numerous winding, often one-way streets, and the main square is closed to vehicular traffic. The nearest parking is available along Gliwicka Street, between its intersections with Ratuszowa and Dolna Streets and Zamkowa Street, approximately 100 metres from the Museum. These spots are part of a temporary parking zone, active on weekdays from 8 AM to 6:00 PM, with a maximum parking time of 90 minutes. For more extended parking, a large car park is located between Opolska Street and Jana III Sobieskiego Street, about 150 metres from the Museum.
By bicycle
Tarnowskie Góry boasts an extensive network of bicycle paths that provide convenient access to the Town Square. Bike stands are available on the Town Square and in front of the Town Hall (No. 4 Rynek). Additionally, several Metrorower bike hire stations are located near the Town Square, including those at the car park between Opolska and Jana III Sobieskiego Streets, the Gwarek Bell Tower, Wolności Square, and the Tarnowskie Góry Cultural Centre (No. 7 Jana III Sobieskiego Street).
By bus or train
Current bus and train schedules can be found on the public transport providers’ websites: www.rj.metropoliaztm.pl and www.rozklad-pkp.pl. The Tarnowskie Góry bus station (Tarnowskie Góry Dworzec) and railway station are located approximately 800 metres from the Museum. To reach the Museum, exit the station building, follow Piłsudskiego Street toward the Ranoszka Roundabout and Wolności Square, then turn into Krakowska Street, which leads directly to the Town Square.
If traveling to Tarnowskie Góry by bus from Katowice (e.g., M3 line), Bytom (e.g., M19 line), or Gliwice (e.g., M14 line), you are recommended to get off at the Tarnowskie Góry Bytomska bus stop. From that point, cross Piłsudskiego Street and walk along Krakowska Street for approximately 400 metres until you reach the Town Square.
By coach
Organised groups arriving in Tarnowskie Góry by coach are recommended to use the parking areas in Jana Nowaka Street (near St. Peter and Paul Church), the car park located between Opolska Street and Jana III Sobieskiego Street, or along Wyszyńskiego Street in the City Park (between the intersections with Krótka Street and Wyspiańskiego Street).
